The last goodbye

Our journey has come to the end. For me, it was pretty much the biggest adventure of my whole life. I loved it. I won't forget it and I recommend it to everyone. We saw the beauty of the Canary Islands and made new, wonderful friends!

But, of course we were excited to come back home! I'm not going to lie, I missed my family and friends. But still, I could stay a little bit longer😁

I want to say big 'thank you' to everyone who was reading our blog!

Saying goodbye!

As our adventure is finishing, last Saturday I went to a lovely town of Aldea in order to say goodbye to Celia's family. Aldea is a pretty interesting place. Before, it was a global centre of tomato farming!

This is Juan, he's Celia's grandfather, and he was working in a tomato farming company. He showed me a little museum that was established by local people of Aldea. Inside you could see a lot of old pictures and other things used in the past.

As you can see above, tomatos from Aldea were being sold to pretty much all countries of European continent.

On Sunday, we decided to go to the Las Canteras beach for this last time. I really wish we could stay a little bit longer! It was an amazing experience and I'll never forget it 😪

Roque Nublo

Last Saturday we went to the mountains! We climbed the second highest mountain of Gran Canaria: Roque Nublo. But it's not a normal, boring mountain. It has beautiful views, a lot of litlle caves and a massive rock on the top!
This one above is Roque Nublo. We can translate it as "Cloud Stone," which is the right name, as its the highest point in the area.

This is another rock with very interesting shape. This one is called "The Monk."
You may be suprised, why it's so foggy, even though it's very sunny and hot. This thing you can see is not a fog. These are very small pieces of sand, which are carried from Sahara desert by the wind!
I love visiting mountains here. They are so different compared to Polish ones. They seem very naked, there aren't many trees and all of them are pine trees. In Poland most mountains are covered with giant forest with all kinds of trees.

Trip to zoo

So,we have been to zoo, and it was awesome! We spent there at least half a day. Of course, litke in all zoo's, tere were animals 😂. There were lot's of various types of them. The zoo was on other side of island (in Maspalomas), so we travelled for a while. And now some photos 😀.

We could walk between animals, and it felt really weird but it was fun.

That was a bird show. It was very funny because this bird was following the man for the whole time.

And there was dolphin show. I liked it very much. It was prepared really goodly.

Before the Europeans

Last weekend I had a great opportunity to discover the life of the aborigens-native inhabitants of Gran Canaria. I have visited two interesting places. The first one was called "Mundo Aborigen".
It's an area with a copy of an old aborigen village.
The second place is called "Cueva pintada". These are real ruins of a village.

Aborigines lived in round houses made out of rocks. It's pretty unique, sadly, the arrival of the European people mede aborigens' culture dissapear. It's great how Canarian people conservate these historical treasures for next generations! It was an amazing adventure!

Carnival!

The Carnival in Las Palmas. The biggest party of the year and the absolute must-watch for turists. I'm so happy that I could see this festival,, full of colours, music and dance.
This year it started on the 10th of February. There was a pretty big celebration in the oldest part of the city. There was a small parade, and then the local singer officaly started the carnival. There were fireworks and music, it was really cool.

The most exciting was the last week of the carnival. The biggest parties take place then. One of them is Carnival for children. There were a lot of kids from age of 2 to 15 as well as their parents. There was a pretty long parade with a lot of dancers, drummers and even stormtroopers!
The biggest parade though took place on Saturday, the 4th of March. It was very long (111 trucks !!)
There were a lot of people, from all around the world. It was very crowdy, but I liked that! There was also live music. Most of the participants have dressed up, my friends have chosen viking style!
The last day of the Carnival was very interesting. Here there is a tradition that on the last day of the carnival the big paper fish has to be burned. There was a small parade, and the fish was on the truck, going to Las Canteras beach. Then it was put on a small raft in the water. After a while, the fish exploded with fireworks and started burning. Then the biggest and most beautiful fireworks show has taken place. It was amazing and pretty long too. To sum up, carnival is a great occasion to have fun, I liked it very much!
